A Small Pause: Simple Ways to Step Away from Your Screen

A mug of tea and an open journal beside a comfortable chair in soft afternoon light.

Between work, messages, and everyday scrolling, it’s easy to spend more time online than you intended. A screen break doesn’t need to be another task on your list. It can simply be a moment that belongs to you.

Start with a natural stopping point

Try putting your phone aside after lunch or closing your laptop when a task is finished. Choose a small pause that fits your day rather than aiming for a perfect digital detox.

Make the moment your own

Look out the window, enjoy a drink without scrolling, or sit somewhere comfortable. You don’t need to make the time productive. Giving yourself permission to do less is enough.

Choose something off-screen

If you like having a little direction, write one sentence in a notebook: “What would feel supportive right now?” You might also read a few pages of a book or print a favorite affirmation to keep nearby.

Keep it simple

Some days, your pause might last a few minutes. Other days, it may be just long enough to notice you’ve been scrolling and choose something else. Either way, you can start again without turning it into a rule.

At Tranquil MindsBody Boutique, we believe self-care can begin with small, thoughtful choices. Today, yours might be a little less scrolling and a little more room for yourself.
